A part of the “From the Ashes” era that’s about to dawn for the X-Men, Uncanny is relaunching with a classic cast, and new leader.

There are a few titles to look like they might make fans of the X-Men’s legacy pretty happy, and one of those is definitely the relaunch of the flagship, Uncanny X-Men. The team includes Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, and Gambit. It’s also got a leader that we’ve never seen before, with the fan-favorite Rogue.
The southern belle will lead the team out of the age of Krakoa, as Marvel’s mutants have finally lost their utopian/dystopian homeland. Now they find themselves scattered once again, to the four winds of the Marvel U, and split into a series of squads. Rogue’s team will once again feature in Uncanny, as the monthly relaunches in August.
And as you’ll see below, it’ll do so with a freshly revealed variant cover from the iconic Andy Kubert.
Launching in August, UNCANNY X-MEN will be the second of three flagship X-titles set in the upcoming From the Ashes era. Today, fans can check out all-new variant covers for the debut issue including group shots by series artist Marquez and celebrated X-Men artist Leinil Francis Yu, a piece by superstar artist Andy Kubert, and the first in a series of character pinups spotlighting the new team by Luciano Vecchio.
After the brutal loss of Krakoa, mutants need the X-Men more than ever. With Professor X missing, Rogue reluctantly finds herself as the X-Man designated to keep the team together. Rogue, Wolverine, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee forge a new home in a New Orleans, and when four mysterious young mutants show up at their doorstep, that home becomes a haven. Protecting mutants from a world that hates and fears them, and using their powers to ensure there’s a future worth living in. They are the Uncanny X-Men!
