Get ready for a new Nintendo Direct on the 21st

Head’s up, Nintendo is planning yet another Nintendo Direct presentation, and this one will be a “Partner Showcase”.

Edit: We’ve updated this story, as we misprinted the date. The date of the Nintendo Direct is the 21st at 6am pacific time, and was not the 20th.

Is it surprising that we only got a day’s (that’s two days -ed) notice that there’s a new Nintendo Direct coming up? No, not really, this is kind of the company’s MO as goes the digital showcase series. What is kind of surprising though, is that the first Direct of 2024 is a “Partner Showcase”.

For the uninitiated, that means that tomorrow’s event will focus on non-first party publishers and development houses. So you’ll likely see a slew of new announcements and probably a few games that are heading towards launch included, but none of them will be from the Big N itself.

On the same note, that also means that there won’t be any discussion of the long rumored Switch 2 (which we really hope will be called the ‘Super Nintendo Switch’). The current scuttle on the Switch-successor is that the console is over a year off anyway though, and if that’s accurate then we probably shouldn’t expect anything until some time this summer. (We almost said ‘E3 time’ there… whew).

Anyway, the show is scheduled to run almost a half hour, clocking in at 25mins, and will kick off at 6am pacific time on February 21st. Click here (then) to head to Nintendo’s YouTube channel to get in on the fun.
