The newest post-launch fighter is coming up fast for Street Fighter 6, with next week’s release of the head of Neo Shadaloo, Ed.
Whoa
That’s right, M. Bison’s evil Shadaloo organization is back. Well, kind of. While a new version of the group is rising with the return of Street Fighter V’s Ed, it’s not quite what it was under the fist of Bison. Namely, this is a softer, gentler Shadaloo.
With the headman gone, Ed has taken control and forged Neo Shadaloo, a group that’s focused on helping others like him. Don’t worry though, because even though he’s something of a hero now, Eddie’s still packing a serious punch and can deliver plenty of Psycho-powered pain.
First appearing in Street Fighter™ V, after rejecting the evil intentions of M. Bison, Ed managed to escape the grasps of the Shadaloo organization and create Neo Shadaloo with the hopes of helping others like him. His attacks in Street Fighter 6 have changed significantly since the latest installment with all of his attacks now being punches. Ed, the initial inspiration of Modern Controls in Street Fighter 6, will also retain his simplified controls, while now receiving expanded inputs for his Classic Controls.

All of Ed’s special moves play off of his Psycho abilities, including his three Super Arts.
- Psycho Flicker: A quick flicker jab from a distance that can go in one of three directions to catch the opponent off-guard and is vital to Ed’s ability to control space. If you hold this button down, Ed will use his Psycho Snatcher from Street Fighter V where he can pull in opponents with psycho-powered tendrils
- Psycho Blitz: Unleashes a series of punches cloaked in Psycho Power
- Psycho Storm: Ed’s Level 1 Super Art sees him striking opponents with a series of high-speed flicker jabs
- Psycho Cannon: Ed’s Level 2 Super Art, previously from Street Fighter V, generates a multi-hitting ball of psycho power that moves forward
- Psycho Chamber: Ed’s Level 3 Super Art turns opponents into his own personal punching bag by tying together their hands and feet and pummeling them in the name of Neo Shadaloo
Capcom press release
Ed yes, but a certain demon too
If you have the Year 1 Character Pass, Year 1 Ultimate Pass, or either the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Street Fighter 6, then you’re already in for some Psycho Power. You can download Ed on Feb. 27. Along with the new character, there’s also the Ruined Lab stage, which is also included with the Year 1 Ultimate Pass and Ultimate Edition. Then on top of all of that, there’s also the “Ed Arrives!” Fighting Pass, which is packed with some in-game boxing equipment.
Don’t forget either that Ed isn’t all that SF6 fans have to look forward to. The raging demon himself, Akuma is still coming, and is set to arrive some time this spring.
