The tale of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader plays out in the newest pre-launch trailer

A tactical role-playing game, Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader will offer players many options, and maybe visits from an Inquisitor.

No one expects the Inquisition

Coming up fast is yet another game based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K universe. Fortunately, and like some others of late, this one’s looking pretty good, and serving up something genuinely new for fans.

Not only does Rogue Trader serve up new themes like the title role, and a new section of space to play in (the Koronus Expanse), but it also introduces a genre that you don’t typically find in games with the license. Namely, a traditional cRPG, that will give Rogue Traders plenty of options as to how they battle foes of the Imperium and broker their business.

Just be aware that, while you can do pretty much as you wish, you just might attract some unwanted attention in the form of an Inquisitor should you step out of bounds.

As a traditional cRPG, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is an experience almost entirely shaped by the player’s decisions. Depending on what path the Rogue Trader chooses, the Koronus Expanse and its powerful entities change in response, opening up new gameplay opportunities. One such entity showcased in the trailer is Inquisitor Xavier Calcazar; the power and authority he wields are enough to make a Rogue Trader green with envy. Just one conversation with Lord Calcazar could set you down a path of dutiful service to the Emperor or taint your legacy with the black mark of heresy.

Owlcat Games press release

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader sets course of the Expanse on December 7th, 2023. Fans can look for it to be available via PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
