The dead are expanding. Techland’s undead sequel, Dead Island 2 is about to get even bigger with the new “Hous” DLC.
Hous of the dead
The first story expansion for developer Techland’s Dead Island 2, Hous is shaping up to be quite the interesting addition to the California-set zombie romp. It’s got some radically different themes from the main game, including the addition of a “secret techno-death cult” funded by one of the state’s elites.
Haus gives players an entirely new storyline to smash zombies through. Amidst the Zompocalypse, a billionaire’s secret techno-death cult fights for survival in Haus, where humanity is unleashed from its moral restraints. The group’s leader, Konstantin, prophesizes that this is the “paragon of a new future.” It’s up to players to prove them wrong.
Players will battle through Haus with new weapons and cards, which they’ll need to use against the ever-growing population of undead seeking their next meal.
Techland press release
New everything, but the same rotters
As you might gather, Haus doesn’t just offer new missions, but is set in a totally new area for Dead Island 2. That’d be “a mysterious and stylish villa in Malibu”, where Techland says players will encounter some people who don’t subscribe to the same morality that they did before the undead invasion. It sounds pretty trippy too, with the press release describing a “deranged labyrinth of biomes where rational architecture is subverted by expanding narrative spaces.”
Along with everything that you see above, Haus will also serve up a four pack of new weapons. Those include:
- K-ROSSBOW – Crafted for precision and lethality, unleash devastating long-range firepower and explode zombified brains with ease.
- Hog Roaster – The ultimate ticket to visceral slaying. Why only butcher a zombie when you can BBQ them at the same time?
- Dead Islands – To take the weight off your shoulders whilst you smash undead enemies into oblivion.
- Eight New Skill Cards –Embellish your slayer with an expanded arsenal of skills.
If you’ve been running out of things to do in Dead Island 2, Haus seems like just the thing to get players to fire it up again. The DLC drops for all versions of the base game on November 2nd, 2023.
