Remedy’s beleaguered writer/hero is back once again in Alan Wake 2. the upcoming sequel will have all-new thrills and chills, and be digital only.

If you watched last week’s PlayStation Showcase event, then you saw no shortage of awesome-looking games. One of the less flashy ones, though definitely no less welcome, was Alan Wake 2.
Remedy’s long-awaited sequel is the first real followup to the cult classic original, and finds the title hero in an apparent world of hurt. Not only that, but the horror is seemingly cranked up to 11.
A string of ritualistic murders and a supernatural darkness begin to corrupt the locals of the quirky, idyllic small town of Bright Falls. Can Agent Saga Anderson and Alan Wake break free from the desolate horror story they’re trapped in and be the heroes they need to be?

Along with the first-look and new hero, was a bit of info about the launch. Remedy will be going digital-only for that, with the reasoning that the company wants the game to come in at the now-well-worn $59.99 USD price point. Apparently that’s not possible with a physical release.
Watch for Alan Wake 2 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Epic) this October the 17th.
