Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games’ Streets of Rage 4 might have hit consoles and the PC in 2020, but it’s still getting some nice updates.
Raging again
If you somehow missed Streets of Rage 4 when it saw release in 2020, then you missed one of the very best revivals… maybe ever. The game picked right up from the Sega Genesis’ trilogy-capping SoR3, and updated both the formula and look of the iconic side-scrolling battler to incredible effect.
Since release, SoR4 has seen some big updates and DLC, but it’s been quiet for a little while now. But last week that silence came to an end with a fresh update that included quite a bit of new content. Over 300 pieces of it, to be a little more precise.
As you can see there, while the bulk of the new stuff is decidedly ‘behind the scenes’, there are some more obvious improvements as well. Those include the new co-op moves and that new Custom Survival Mode. That seems like it only affects the Mr.X Survival Mode DLC, but it should shake that add-on up nicely.
The update is out now for all versions of Streets of Rage 4, which is actually on sale right now as well. Would-be players can grab a copy of the game for 50% off via Steam, the PlayStation Store, and Nintendo’s eShop. That’s good through Mach 23rd.
PC fans have an additional pair of options, with 50% off on both the Mr.X DLC, as well as a bundle deal that includes the base game and the pack.
