Homicidal All-Stars presents a dark future, and even darker game show

Think classic action flick The Running Man was dystopic? Check out Good Shepherd and Artificer’s turn-based strategy title Homicidal All-Stars, .

Who’s up for a deadly gameshow, set in a dark and dystopic world? Yes, it might sound familiar, but that’s because Artificer’s latest was heavily influenced by some of the best films of the 80s.

Check out Homicidal All-Stars in action:

Homicidal All-Stars is a hugely popular sensation for a future society torn apart by extreme income inequality, rapacious corporations, climate change, civil unrest and war. As a contestant, you must survive deadly urban arenas packed with lethal traps, confounding puzzles, and heavily armed killers. Defeat your enemies, become a star, and you could win it all!

Every episode of Homicidal All-Stars delivers a hellish new obstacle course with a distinct theme and challenges. Evade and disarm traps, overcome ambushes, explore for helpful sponsorship packages, and be on guard for especially nasty surprises from the show’s director. When the mayhem is over, you’ll head backstage to rest and recuperate: record a confessional, chat with your fellow challengers and the show’s crew, then level up and customize your loadout for the next night of lethal dangers for the audience’s amusement.

Good Shepard Entertainment press release

Good Shepherd and Artificer actually cite The Running Man as one of the influences behind Homicidal All-Stars, along with RoboCop and Escape from New York. Although the story hasn’t been detailed, like in the Schwarzenegger classic, this game is a revenge story.

Unlike in that film though, players in HAS will be able to recruit their teams and outfit them for battle. After that, they’ll work their way up the ladder on the fictional show, ganging fans and even signing sponsorship deals.

In a cool twist too, Twitch integration will allow streamers to actually invite their viewers to take part in the action. Those watching will be able to vote “in real-time” for what happens in rounds. And yes, that includes sending “the streamer to their doom”.

Homicidal All-Stars has no release date just yet, but you can expect to see it debut on the PC later this year. And if you’d like to wish-list it, you can now do so via either Steam or GOG.
