Take a first look at Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground’s gameplay

The Olde World of Warhammer returns to the turn-based strategy arena for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground. Here’s a first-look at it’s play.

New era

Taking full advantage of Warhammer’s new “Age of Sigmar” era is the latest from Focus Home and Gasket Games. A Turn-based strategy game, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is set in the new continuity, and features what sounds to be a pretty epic quest.

A total to three factions call the game home, and none of them are ‘typical’ Warhammer offerings. Instead gamers will be able to play as “the stalwart Stormcast Eternals, ghoulish Nighthaunt, and putrescent Maggotkin”.

As for gameplay, after seeing Warhammer take a break from the genre, it’s back to the strategy of turn-based play for Storm Ground. Gasket promises that every tile will have “tactical relevance”, with things like having the high ground playing into the combat (sorry Anakin).

Here’s a look at it in action:

Each non-linear, procedurally generated, single-player campaign offers a new experience whenever you begin for endlessly replayable gameplay. Upgrade your army in campaign mode by collecting new heroes, units, wargear, skills, weapons and more. New units will allow you to build your army your way, choosing who to field with each new battle and customizing every facet of their equipment to match your playstyle. Meanwhile, multiplayer will have you gaining a collection and evolving your army steadily over time as you win battles against real players online.

Focus Home

Sharpen thy virtual blades, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is coming sooner than later. The game is set to debut on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on May 27th.
