Going way back to the 80s, publisher IDW is preparing to present a lost tale of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Last Ronin is coming.
Apocalyptic turtles
I consider myself a pretty big Ninja Turtles fan, but I had never heard of this one. Apparently a “lost” tale of the TMNT (according to IDW), The Last Ronin was a story originally set to be told decades ago in 1987, from Turtles co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
And as you’ll see in the synopsis below, it sounds pretty awesome.
In a future New York City far different from the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends. Kinetic layouts from Eastman, atmospheric inks from Andy Kuhn, and a thrilling script full of surprises from longtime TMNT scribe Tom Waltz all combine to make this one of the most memorable TMNT stories that fans will ever read.
IDW
There’s no release date as of yet, but IDW says to expect the first issue to hit stores some time this summer. The Last Ronin is set to run for five-issues, and be presented in an oversized format.
