In kind of a big announcement, Netflix has announced that Cuphead, one of the biggest indie games in years, will be making its way to the service.

I don’t know if any indie game was more hotly anticipated in the last few years than Cuphead. Originally appearing on the Xbox One and PC exclusively (now on the Switch) the title is a tough-as-nails side-scrolling shooter. Honestly, that doesn’t sound all that interesting, I grant you. But it’s when you actually see the game in motion that the Studio MDHR title becomes as great as it is.
If you thought that looked great, imagine what the actual cartoon will look like. Yes folks, Cuphead is coming to Netflix as an animated show. In conjunction with Studio MDHR and the legendary King Features, Netflix will be bringing Cuphead and Mugman to life for a new series.
Reportedly, the show will sport the same 30s-style animation as the game, though it won’t be produced by MDHR. Instead, Cuphead will be made directly by Netflix. But don’t expect fancy computer work here – the show will stay true to the game, and feature hand-drawn visuals.
Cuphead co-creator Jared Moldenhauer spoke with gaming site IGN about the show, saying that it’s still in the first phases of development. He added that the show will be a comedy for the younger set, but that adults will get some of the humor in there too.
There’s no release date yet for this one, but you can read much more about it via the link below.
