New Rage 2 trailer answers a pretty basic question

What is Rage 2? Well, the obvious answer is that it’s Bethesda’s latest FPS from iD and Avalanche. But there’s so much more to it than that.

It’s a weird title this trailer has, to be sure. “What is Rage 2?” Seemingly, there’s a pretty obvious answer to that query. Seemingly. Don’t forget that Rage 2 is pretty much a soft-reboot for the series that started in the fall of 2011.

While that game was more or less a traditional shooter, and had a grim and gritty feel throughout, the new Rage shakes things up considerably. This sequel moves Rage’s timeline along to a point where humanity is starting to really take form once again.

Not only that, but your character also has access to technology and weaponry from before the apocalypse. And super powers. And of course, giant guns.

And it’s completely insane.

While I’m not wild about open-world FPS’, I am incredibly hyped for the mix of Doom and Mad Max that seems to be Rage 2. It feels like there’s a good chunk of that iD Software magic in there too, with all of the over the top action. As a monster fan of the developer, I can’t wait to play it.

If you’re feeling the same, then you’ll be happy to know that the launch isn’t far off. Rage 2 officially hits the Xbox One, PS4, and PC on May the 14th.
