DC Collectibles had a great showing at Toy Fair, including some new lines like the luchador series, and an expansion of the animated line.
DC rolls on
There was a lot to see at DC Collectibles’ booth at Toy Fair. Like, a ton. There was something from every corner of the toy collecting hobby too, whether it be action figures, replicas, or statues.
A few things stood out for sure, namely a surprise look at a few figures that expanded the Animated line that used to just include figures from the Batman cartoon shows. These you’ve got to see.
Again though, if you have a favorite DC series of collectibles, chances are there’s something to like here.
DC Essentials
DC Collectibles’ premier action figure series had a nice expansion at Toy Fair. Included in the new offerings are figures of Nightwing, Batgirl, Cyborg Superman, and a phenomenal looking Joker. Maybe one of the nest looking Jokers ever cast in plastic.
Lucha Explosiva
One of the biggest surprises at the DC booth was the new wrestling series of heroes and villains. This new line casts various DC Comics characters as grapplers with a luchador bent.
It’s incredibly unique, and more than a little cool. I was slightly bummed to learn that the ring was a custom-job for the convention, and not an official product, but whatever. The figures are still neat.
And no, I don’t know why we didn’t get a Bane.
Artist’s Alley figures
Yes, DC is once again expanding is the “Artist’s Alley” line. This year will see the series grow to include monstrous incarnations of Batman and his rogues. Given that they were designed but the guy who created Madballs back in the 80s, I guess they should be.
Right there with them will be the more cartoony figures that you see below. So there’s a little something for everyone.
DC Animated figures
This was, by far, the coolest stuff in the booth. Well, it was for me anyway. I love this line to begin with, and I was bummed that it wasn’t going to include Superman: The Animated Series or any more Justice League figures. Those plans seem to be on hold for now.
But you know what’s not on hold? Figures done in the Animated style for heroes and villains that never appeared in any incarnation of that original DC Animated Universe.
Deathstroke, Jason Todd’s version of the Red Hood, Armored Batman, and the Azreal-Batman were all on hand. I need these ASAP DC, so get to it and get ’em out there!
Statues and more
It wasn’t all action figures of course, as there were plenty of new statues on hand too. DC Has produced a ton of really great looking pieces over the years, and they’ve got a great bunch planned for this year as well.
Offerings include a replica Wonder Woman shield from the upcoming movie, new Batman Cowls, Bombshells, a new post-apocalyptic series, and a life-size Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series!
