New Age of Rebellion Star Wars comics on the way

Marvel is going back to the most popular era of Star Wars for a slate of new one-shots. The Age of Rebellion starts this April.

Golden age

Is there a better-loved Star Wars story than the one told across the original three movies? No, is the answer to that question. So it only makes sense that Marvel Comics would start to seriously mine that portion of their Star Wars license. And mine it, they will.

Starting this April, Star Wars comics will expand with a set of one-shot comics, each one featuring a specific hero or villain.

Following the legendary sagas of the Jedi, the Sith, and more from AGE OF THE REPUBLIC, join writer Greg Pak (The Incredible Hulk, Weapon H) and artist Chris Sprouse (Black Panther) for new tales about some of the most iconic Star Wars heroes and artist Marc Laming (Beckett, Star Wars Annual) for new stories about the galaxy’s most dangerous villains. With covers by Terry and Rachel Dodson, these are stories you don’t want to miss!

Marvel Comics press release

But wait, there’s more. Also set to debut in April, Marvel will be producing Age of Rebellion #1. The publisher says that fans will “discover brand new sides of some of your favorite – and deadly – heroes and villains” in that issue.

The special anchor issue comes from writers Marc Guggenheim, Jon Adams, and Si Spurrier. Adams will double up for this book, also providing art alongside Caspar Wijngaard and Andrea Broccardo.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
