Action back in the Old World, Warhammer: Chaosbane announced

Another Warhammer title? Yep, but this one follows in the footsteps of the yet to be released Inquisitor – Martyr. Though it’ll be set in the medieval Old World, Warhammer: Chaosbane will feature action/RPG gameplay, a first for the IP.

Action and role-playing

The first Warhammer 40k-themed action RPG, Inquisitor – Martyr, isn’t yet in stores, but it’s already got competition. Eschewing bolters and psyker attacks for magic and swords, Warhammer: Chaosbane is already looking slick.

As with its 40k cousin, this game will be published by Bigben. Doing the actual development however, will be Eko Software, a company that has worked on titles like How to Survive 1 and 2. No, they’re not a huge name, but the first screens look good, so there’s plenty of room for optimism there.

And that’s exactly what I am right now, since an action/RPG in Warhammer’s world sounds like something that should have existed many times over already. As a Diablo fan from way back, I can’t wait to see what Eko does with this license. And I hope they cram as much of Games Workshop’s creations into it as possible.

Aside form the two screens, we don’t have a ton of info just yet. The game will allow players to select from a human, a high elf, a wood elf, or a dwarf however, and quest into a few notable locales. According to Bigben, “the cursed city of Praag” and “Nuln, the old capital of the Empire” will both be playing a part.

Warhammer: Chaosbane will be shown off at E3 in the coming weeks, and will eventually be available for “consoles and the PC”. There’s no release date or window as of yet.
