Valiant Excites In Eternity #1 (Comic) Review

Beyond time… And space… Even Divinity. Welcome to a distant realm known to us only as Eternity. New Gods, world and mythos await us.

Eternity #1

Valiant Comics has given us some incredible stories already. Ninjak, Divinity, X-O, just to name a few. And now they are pushing the boundaries of what is known again. Matt Kindt (X-O MANOWAR) and Trevor Hairsine (DIVINITY) seem to have quite a story to unravel, based on what we find in Eternity 1.

Kindt wastes no time getting to the story here. We see a small boy put to bed, and a mysterious alien die. Either could be a strong starting point, but together they lend a strong warning of what is ahead.

From this launching pad, we see a tri-horned doctor, cyclopean messenger, and a sect of purple-wearing priests with spikes protruding from their backs. To say that the environment of Eternity is fresh would be an understatement.

Eternity #1 leaves more questions than answers, and I for one cannot wait to learn more. There are so many new characters whose stories I am dying to know more about. Better yet, what is the world-binding, that requires a life sacrifice?

As soon as you see the cover of Eternity #1, you immediately want to know more about the depicted character. While we do not yet know much, I have learned that he is one of what I am calling a priest, of the sect known as ‘brothers of the bomb’. With a name like that, I’m sure we can agree that they are up to something mischievious.

New comic series can be a bit hit-or-miss sometimes, so I had my reservations at first. I knew the cover looked incredible, but I knew little beyond that. In my curiosity, I took a risk, and am glad that I did. I can’t wait for the remainder of the Eternity books to be released, and I may now have to catch up on some of the existing lore in the Valiant canon.

Valiant Comics’ Eternity #1 is available now.
