EA has announced that the beta for their forthcoming Star Wars sequel will be on consoles and the PC just a bit before the game officially launches.
Battlefront strikes back
Star Wars Battlefront’s ‘reboot’ might have had a somewhat mixed reaction, but that doesn’t cast even a slight shadow on the upcoming sequel. With a re-stocked multiplayer component and the single player campaign that everyone wanted from the first game, it’s looking good. But Battlefront is still primarily a multiplayer game at heart. And of course, that means there’s a beta on the way. Look for that to arrive on consoles about a month before the game hits retail.
As for the launch date, well it kind of boils down to whether or not you pre-ordered Battlefront II. If you did, then you’ll get to play the beta on the 4th of October. That gives you a full two days jump on it, as the standard download arrives on the 6th. Also if you pre-upped, you’ll get access to “bonus content including Yoda’s Epic Lightsaber Mastery Star Card”. Those will be available for you to grab until the 9th (or while supplies last). That’s also the end date of the beta by the way- the 9th.
No, it’s not that long, but at least you’ll be able to get in a little refresher before the main event. As for what’s included, check out the press release snippet below.
Players can take their favorite heroes to battle in the large scale 20 v 20 Galactic Assault mode on Theed City, joining Republic clone troopers and Separatist battle droids in a wild melee on the streets surrounding the royal palace. Also included in the multiplayer beta is a Starfighter Assault battle, where fans can jump into the cockpit of some of the most memorable starfighters from Star Wars.
