Watch even more of the The Evil Within 2’s fiends in action in this new gameplay trailer

The things that go bump in the night are ever more terrifying in The Evil Within 2. Have a look at this new trailer for a whole bunch of things you can’t unsee.

Nightmares… become reality

Set in Union, a crumbling city built using Lily’s mind as the Core, The Evil Within 2 presents a mix of closed off, claustrophobic environments that are reminiscent of the first game, and new, less linear areas that will give you the opportunity to explore at your own pace. You’ll be able to wander freely and poke through all the dark corners of the world at your leisure, but this is still a survival horror game, and ammo and resources will be scarce. You’ll need to prepare carefully and move cautiously as you discover the secrets of Union and unravel Mobius’ plans from within STEM.

I mean, yikes, right? I haven’t played the original, but Bethesda second go at The Evil Within universe seems ten times more horrific. The monsters made out of people kind of sealed that up for me. I’m really liking the idea of switching between tight, claustrophobic stuff, and open areas too.

Honestly, sometimes the open fields are more spooky than the closed in hallways in games like this. It’s not traditional, but you never know where the bad guys are out in a larger area. In a closed in space, it’s a little easier to spot where they’re going to pop out. Jump scares and all that.

One things that’s not going to jump out at you? The Evil Within 2, since we already know it’s launch date. Expect it on October the 13th. That’s a Friday by the way.
