First Blade Runner 2049 trailer debuts

Finally, at long last, the trailer for Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner sequel is here.

Things were simpler then

Ominous, foreboding, and asking more questions than it answers, this first trailer for Blade Runner 2049 hits all the right notes. Well, to be fair, it kind of does answer one pretty important question. That being that it certainly looks like Harrison Ford’s character of Rick Deckard is indeed human.

Blade Runner was somewhat open-ended on that query, if you’ll remember. The original film left the door ajar, leading viewers to not necessarily know whether Deckard was a replicant (one of the robots he was hunting over the course of the story) or a human. But let’s get back to those new questions that abound at this point, ’cause there are a lot of them.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos.  K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
“What’s left of society”? “A long-buried secret”? Both big questions. Add onto those the mystery of where Deckard has been for three decades and you have a pretty big tease that should get fans pumped to check this one out. It’s gonna be a while till you’ll be able to do that though. Namely, October the 6th, 2017. Can’t come soon enough.
