Wasteland 3 is funded and taking us to the icy Colorado
Before I start, I just want to make it clear that I helped fund this game. Full disclosure. Now that that’s out of the way, another crowdfunding campaign has successfully ended. Wasteland 3, the third entry in the franchise that inspired Fallout, raised over 3.1 million dollars. Mere hours ago, its campaign ended and it was funded. Instead of Kickstarter, inXile, the developers, utilized Fig. The same platform that brought us Dusk and Hyper Light Drifter.
Wasteland 3 is planned to take place in Colorado, a bit of departure from the previous games. Both of them took place in Nevada, and California to an extent in Wasteland 2. Colorado is in the grips of a nuclear winter, and the Desert Rangers that the player character belongs to looks to establish order there. This is an uphill battle, as the Rangers have no reputation there and the area is deeply divided. Not all factions in Colorado will survive, and difficult choices must be made.
Quite a lot is being introduced to the franchise through Wasteland 3. Multiplayer for a start. While the main focus of the game will be on single player, it will be possible for a friend to drop in. Plenty of in game material will be added as well, including vehicles and Ranger base to manage. To top it off, inXile also plans to improve what was present in the previous game. Extensive dialogue trees and more fluid combat mechanics will be featured. All in all, Wasteland 3 aims to add to the previous game and refine what was already there.
The planned release date for Wasteland 3 is Q4 of 2019.
