Valiant’s godlike hero Divinity is about to find himself in a world of strangeness as Divinity III: The Stalinverse #1 hits this December.
Divinity has always been an odd book. It’s maybe Valiant’s most off the wall comic, starring a hero who’s more god than man. Reality warping and divine abilities have played a huge part in the epic that’s now heading into the third stage with Divinity III.
But while we’ve seen Earth’s heroes go toe-to-toe with him, and witnessed him face off against a fellow ‘god’, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Get ready for the Stalinverse
What if the Nazi’s won WWII? That’s old news, as the Red Army is the one marching across the globe in Divinity III. And man, it’s no paradise.
This winter, the sold-out sci-fi saga that redefined the Valiant Universe begins a reality-shattering comics event that will collide the world’s most formidable heroes with a disturbing new vision… One where a worldwide Soviet empire now rules a world order… The Iron Curtain extends across continents, shattering governments and armies in its wake… And the communist global super-state rules not only with an iron fist, but powers far beyond the comprehension of mortal men.
Earth has a new god. The world you know is gone. Welcome to the Stalinverse, comrade.
“STALINVERSE has always been something we’ve been building towards since the very beginning of DIVINITY,” said Valiant Editor-in-Chief Warren Simons. “This series will not only have major repercussions for every key hero and villain in the Valiant Universe, but will also give us our first glimpse of new characters with a long-term trajectory. From HARBINGER WARS to BOOK OF DEATH to 4001 A.D., Valiant’s events have always been big, but Matt and Trevor are elevating the stakes to a truly global concern here – they’re building not just an event, but an entirely new and terrifying world.”
A bold new world
The newest Divinity epic is bold, different, and terrifying indeed. That’s in no small part thanks to the fact that Valiant’s heroes are warped by this alternate reality right along with the rest of the humanity. That alone should make for some awesome visuals too. And on top of that, I think this might be the first ‘multiverse’-type story published by the company. So Divinity III is a pretty big milestone for Valiant as a shared-universe.
It’s just a flat-out nifty idea too. Again, we’ve seen the whole ‘world dominated by Nazis’ thing so much, and this is something different and fresh. Neat stuff. And with the team of Matt Kindt and Trevor Hairline behind it, you know it’ll be quality as well.
Look for Divinity III: The Stalinverse #1 on the racks and up for digital download on December 21st.
