Team Japan takes to the ring in King of Fighters XIV

Kyo and crew sharpen their skills in this new trailer for SNK’s King of Fighters XIV.

Brings back a lot of memories of the ’98 KoF; Kyo was always on my team. That’s one of the coolest things about KoF as a series, yes you can use the pre-booked teams to battle your way through the game, but you can also mix and match any of the 50 combatants to make your own custom, A+, all-star team.

Yep, 50 characters in this new edition of KoF, including a whopping 19 brand new ones. So there should be a little something for every preference- with plenty of new and old favorites alike. And aside from that and the new graphics, this version of the long-running fighting game series is being touted as one of the biggest steps forward for the franchise yet.

You’ll find the controls have been streamlined, and a reworked Combo and Max Mode also included for this round. All of this was done with an eye towards competition, through massive amounts of play-testing and balancing, according to SNK. So if you’re going to go out and grab a King of Fighters game, then you might want to wait a bit and make it this one.

King of Fighters XIV is almost ready to go, and will arrive on the PS4 this August the 23rd. Oh, and if you’re a big Kyo fan, you might want to pre-order a copy. You’ll assure yourself a swanky steelbook case, which are only available in the first run of launch copies. But wait, there’s more!

You don’t have to pre-order for this next bonus, but you’ll want to buy in early, as everybody who owns a copy of the game will get the Classic Kyo costume DLC free of charge for the week following launch.

Basically, if you’re a Kyo fan, then you want to get the game when it’s released.
