Get a better look at the origin of the title baddie in the newest X-Men: Apocalypse trailer.
Looking pretty faithful to the comics is the origin of one of the biggest threats that the film-version of the X-Men will face yet. Apocalypse is a Egyptian – an ancient Egyptian – who’s been alive for thousands of years, causing trouble from the shadows and plotting the rise of the mutant race to dominate humanity.
Aside from being a super-powerful mutant, Apocalypse is aided in this dark quest by alien technology. Gifts given to him long ago, when the Egyptian empire was still around. And it (shockingly) looks as though the upcoming Brian Singer-helmed movie will indeed carry this theme through.
I say ‘shockingly’ because Singer’s previous X-movies, and pretty much every other film in the franchise, has played fast and loose with canon. Do I really have to bring up Juggernaut? No, I didn’t think so. This time though, it sure does seem as though Fox is trying to get En Sabah Nur ‘right’. And that’s a very good thing indeed.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27th.
