The oft-delayed and semi-forgotten Doom reboot is very much alive and kicking, and it’s on the way to E3 2015.
Little more than 10 seconds in length, but still one of the best trailers I’ve seen in a long time. I might be biased just a tad though, since I’ve been a Doom fan since the original title hit the shareware circuit for the PC. And, although this look at the game in action is brief, it’s looking undeniably great.
When Bethesda announced that the game, as it stood, was being scrapped and rebooted in mid-development, they said they were doing it with the thought that a rebooted Doom franchise had to shift the emphasis back onto what the series was supposed to have been about since the beginning- fast action and lots of it. From this little tease, we can see that that’s definitely what’s cooking.
We’ve got a double-barreled shotgun (a fan favorite), a nasty Revenant (the monster that you see) marching at the player (which also shows that fans can expect the return of some baddies), and both a high tech backdrop (in the shotgun part) and a ‘hellacious’ one with the cave that the previously mentioned Revenant is walking through. Lots of nods to the classic games there, and some excellent looking graphics as well.
Fingers crossed. Doom debuts all over again at Bethesda’s E3 press conference, on June 14th at 7pm Pacific.
