Activision has let a little more slip as to the upcoming Black Ops III, including a video setting that stage, and an official announce date.
In the next 50 years, technological advancements will lead us into a world where only those who risk going too far will find out how far we can actually go.
Setting the world stage nicely today, Activision has produced a pretty cool little trailer and pre-look into the backdrop for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Sure there’s nothing in the way of gameplay in there, but we certainly have an inkling as to the sides in conflict in the third entry of the sub-series.
It certainly looks like some kind of human rights faction will be at war with enhanced super-soldiers in a conspiracy-laden (complete with a whistleblower) trek some five decades into the future. Since we already had Black Ops heading in an tech-heavy direction in the last game, it seems like a tech-obsessed future is a pretty logical continuation to that narrative. It’s almost Deus-Exy, and I’ll be damned if I’m not excited at the idea of a fusion of those themes and Call of Duty.
As I mentioned, Activision has also announced a world reveal date for the game, where we’ll presumably see something in the way of actual in-game footage. You won’t have to wait very long for that either, as April 26th is the big day. So get back here this coming Sunday for a deeper look at the next Black Ops adventure.
