Spirits of Xanadu is part retro cool, part creepy weird space odyssey

Hitting Steam soon, Night Dive’s Spirits of Xanadu has a really cool look that recalls some of the sci-fi properties that it takes inspiration from, and plenty of scares to back it up.

“System Shock, Deus Ex, Tarkovsky’s Solaris, and 2001: A Space Odyssey”, are all pretty big sci-fi IP’s. They all have unique looks and ‘feels’ too, and Spirits of Xanadu is looking to play on all the best parts of each one. The setting for the game is an abandoned starship, but one that’s still ‘alive’ with puzzles and what look to be some fairly unfriendly ‘bots.

The developer says that the game will be a mix of puzzle solving and FPS gameplay, and feature a “deep plot”. All of which is set against that starkly futuristic backdrop that you see in the trailer. Spirits of Xanadu is set to launch on the PC (Windows and Linux) as well as the Mac, on March 26th. The game will cost you $14.99 USD during the launch period thanks to a 10% off sale too, so if you dig the look of this one, grab it now.
