Petroglyph’s newest is a throwback RTS with some pretty awesome, well, Goo.
Grey Goo might sound kind of ‘cute’, but as you can see, this gunk is anything but. Grey Goo is also a real theory as to what a nano tech swarm of bots might actually produce. Kind of like a tidal wave of techno-mess that could actually swallow up a world. In the case of the game of the same name, it’s a sentient tidal wave, which is even creepier.
Developer Petroglyph promises equal parts base-building (something that’s been sorely missing from RTS’ for a while now) and combat in Grey Goo, which has got to be music to the ears of longtime genre fans. As one of those, I’ve felt like I’ve been basically ‘evolved’ right out of real-time strategy in general as the game form really doesn’t resemble what I used to love to play. Well, till now anyway and Grey Goo, which I’m very much hopeful for as a return to form.
It won’t be too much longer now till the title arrives either as Grey Goo is set to launch on the PC on January 23rd. Cross your fingers on this one genre vets…
