The Crew’s open world racing comes to the PS4 with an open beta.
Not all that far away from hitting at retail and download services, Ubisoft’s racing epic The Crew is set to start the engine on an open beta exclusively for PS4 gamers. The beta allows for exploration of the entire in-game US map, including challenges in two of those five, the Midwest and the East Coast.
You’ll also be able to compete against your fellow open-beta drivers in the advance edition, as well as play around with the customization options and fine-tuning on the Street and Dirt classes of car. In all, it’s a pretty full-featured experience for a beta and should give you a good sense of what Ubisoft has cooking up for the final edition.
Ubisoft is promising a lot with this one though, and we’re hoping that the game has improved from our preview look at it. There’s a ton and a half of potential here with The Crew, but unfortunately the beta was lacking on just about everything in some way or another. Then again though, Ubi says that the development team has taken commentary and feedback from that test into consideration, so hopefully the game’s been (or is not he way towards being) as finely tuned as the cars that it features when you fire up the now open beta.
