Ubisoft games pulled from Steam globally

If you were looking to grab a copy of Assassin’s Creed Unity on Steam this week, we’ve got some bad news for you.

It looks like the new AC title (landing this week for the PC and consoles) won’t be heading to Steam- and that’s not the only Ubi title to see delisting from the popular PC gaming download service. Originally announced to be a UK only initiative, Ubisoft has decided to no longer support Valve’s online storefront with any of the newest games in its catalog.

In the short term, this move affects titles like Assassin’s Creed Unity, The Crew, and Far Cry 4, which are all no longer being offered by Steam as of right now. Long term, who knows, as the reasoning behind the move hasn’t been discussed as of yet. So right now it remains to be seen if this will be a permanent shift away from Steam and towards other retailers (where the above games will still be available), as well as the company’s own shop, UPlay.

Is it me or did Ubisoft not announce a while ago that they were sort-of backing down on UPlay? Guess not then.
