E3 2014: Hyrule Warriors trailer and more from the Nintendo E3 Direct

Legend of Zelda meets Dynasty Warriors in all-out open warfare in the kingdom of Hyrule.

Set in one of Nintendo’s most famous universes, Hyrule Warriors looked pretty darned sharp in the Nintendo E3 Direct. With a new villain in the sorceress Cia, Hyrule Warriors breaks new ground in a few ways for the game series, not the least of which is the combat-heavy Dynasty Warriors-esque play style.

As for where you’ll be doing that fighting, familiar locations like Hyrule Field (which we’ve seen already) and the Palace of Twilight will be present, among others. As you play you’ll collect rupees, items, weapons, and badges while unlocking new characters as you go.

It’s definitely different, but still feels like a Zelda title at its core. And even as a gamer who doesn’t really care at all for Dynasty Warirors, it looks pretty darned awesome. You will have a while to wait though as Hyrule Warriors will be hitting the Wii U some time in 2015.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
