Even though it was widely reported (and even stated by publisher Activision) that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would not be hitting the Xbox One at launch, it’s available digitally and apparently on the way in physical form as well.
It really wasn’t too clear, not all that long ago, if Activision and developer Beenox’ Spidey movie sequel would be making the jump to the Xbox One at all, and yet here it is. Originally, the game was announced for the console along with all the other platforms that you can now grab a copy on, but then Activision made a u-turn and said that the next generation Xbox’ version of the game would be slipping into ‘unknown’ release territory.
No real reason was given for the change, but whatever it was, the companies in question seem to have straightened it out because the open-world superhero title is available right now on Xbox Live and might just be hitting stores soon as well. First, gamers had noticed (and downloaded and played) The Amazing Spider-Man 2 via Xbox Live yesterday (launch day for the game) and now GameStop is listing a release date for the retail boxed edition as May 8th.
So, Spidey is fashionably late for Xbox One gamers who keep a physical library, but nonetheless has arrived right along with the PS4/3, Wii U, and PC versions of the game.
