MadCatz’ latest in the excellent R.A.T. line of mice has just been announced at CES 2014. Say hi to the R.A.T. TE; the first in the line built with an eye towards the professional gamer.
“We launched our original R.A.T. line of gaming mice four years ago, and we’re pleased to continue expanding this highly successful range with the announcement of the Tournament Edition model,” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz. “The R.A.T.TE is another example of our ongoing commitment to building high performance hardware for the passionate gaming community.”
On the way in the early part of this year, the R.A.T. TE (which stands for Tournament Edition by the way) houses a brand new Philips Doppler Laser sensor and tracks up to 8200 DPI. That’s pretty impressive all by itself, but there’s much more to this little mouse than just the sensor. The R.A.T. TE also has a reduced weight to make faster moves and “decrease inertia”, programmable buttons that have “been optimized for popular e-sports games” and ‘Lift-Off’ height calibration and dynamic surface detection to make sure you never miss a move or experience a drop in connectivity to your mousing surface.
MadCatz is touting the R.A.T. TE as the “ideal mouse” for the pro gamer and with the precedent that the line has already set, I don’t doubt that it just might be. Also, those color are snazzy- can’t forget that.
So when might you be able to get your pro-gaming hands on the R.A.T. TE? MadCatz says that the mouse should become available early this year (quarter 1). No word on pricing as of yet, but we’ll let you know.
