Two more Sega titles got the 3D treatment on the 3DS this week.
Available right now on the eShop on the Nintendo 3DS are the absolute classic Sega titles Shinobi III Return of the Ninja Master and Streets of Rage. Both games originally debuted on the Sega Genesis and have gotten a 3D upgrade for the 3DS as part of Sega’s new line of 3D Classics for the handheld console.
I remember both of these very well and either one is easily worth your time if you like the old school, side-scrolling action and the beat’em ups of yore. Really any game in the SoR or Shinobi series is infinitely playable too, so both of these new releases fall neatly into the slot of games on your dashboard that you’re likely going to revisit more than a few times.
There was some kind of crazy magic that Sega had back in the Genesis days where they could practically do no wrong with the genre. It was indeed a golden age for gamers who liked moving from left to right and hitting things… occasionally with a sword. I’d love to see the rest of both franchises get the 3D treatment for the 3DS. And for the love of God, can we get a new Streets of Rage please?! I mean come on Sega, SoR is just sitting there… all lonely and forgotten… it’s just so, so sad.
