Grand Theft Auto Online explodes with debut trailer

A “persistent and dynamic Grand Theft Auto game world” has finally arrived.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that GTA Online is probably something that Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting for for quite a while. Going well past the typical ‘multiplayer’ modes that most games offer, GTAO is really a whole separate game from GTA5.

Even though it’s included in the box with the fifth game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA Online is a world apart which Rockstar promises “will constantly grow and change as new content is added”. Different as it is though, GTAO definitely has that Grand Theft Auto charm that players know and love. And quite frankly, if it even does half of the things that Rockstar showed off in the trailer, it might be one of the best realized online worlds of all time.

The first ever online-only Grand Theft Auto ships as a pack-in with GTA5 on September 17th for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Grand Theft Auto Online portion of things is expected to activate on October 1st.
