The first issue of the Archer & Armstrong spin-off kicks the action off in earnest as Gilad learns that a life of peace isn’t really going to cut it for somebody who used to call himself the Fist and Steel of Earth.
Across ten millennia and a thousand battlefields, Gilad Anni-Padda has traversed the darkest, most mysterious corners of history. But the horror and bloodshed of constant warfare has finally taken its toll on the man myth calls the Eternal Warrior…and he has abdicated his duties as the Fist and the Steel of Earth for a quiet life of seclusion. But when a blood vendetta from the distant past suddenly reappears in the modern day, he must decide if he will return to the ways of war…for a child that betrayed him thousands of years ago…
The Eternal Warrior is a classic from the ’90s era Valiant and there’s no doubt that the publisher has a legion of fans waiting to read the newest incarnation of the classic character in solo adventures. Gilad was a part of one of the bigger Archer & Armstrong story arcs in the last year and got a pretty great reception from fans of that book.
If you haven’t read him previously, basically all you have to know is that he’s an immortal who’s pretty much the equal of X-O Manowar in terms of savage combat skill. And if that’s not enough to get you interested in a standalone Eternal Warrior title, I don’t know what would be.
Look for Eternal Warrior #1 to hit stands on September 11th from the creative team of Trevor Hairsine and Greg Pak.
