Batgirl DLC available now for Injustice

The Injustice: Gods Among Us Bat-family just got a little bigger with the addition of Batgirl, but that’s not all today as a pair of hotly anticipated skin packs are ready for download as well.

I know NetherRealm has gotten a little flack from fans for adding in yet another representative from Gotham City onto Injustice’s roster, but frankly I like the move. Batgirl is a classic character and a big part of the bat-books in the DC Universe, it’d be stranger if she wasn’t in the game in some way to be honest. Oh, and as a special bonus here, the compatibility update for the DLC actually includes a Luchador skin for Bane, so you get something whether you pick up the Batgirl DLC or not.

Af you’re not into the DLC character add on, you should know that Barbara Gordon isn’t the only new part of Injustice to arrive on servers today. A pair of skin packs, Red Son and The Killing Joke are also available, and these are as can’t miss as a reskinning can be.

Red Son was actually a preorder ‘exclusive’ but is now available for those who didn’t plunk down their cash ahead of time. It’s pretty awesome though and includes duds for Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy and Superman from the Red Son timeline where the Man of Steel was found by the Russians during the Cold War. Let that one sink in for a second…

The Killing Joke probably needs no introduction as it was one of the most important and character changing events in DCU history. At the same time, Batgirl started on the road to becoming Oracle (who I thought was a great character BTW) and The Joker became the homicidal madman we know today. I don’t remember the character being anywhere near as brutal and insane as he was in The Killing Joke before that book debuted- and now look at him. That’s a landmark story indeed and this skin pack reflects it pretty awesomely.

The skins will cost you 240 MS points or $2.99 USD on Xbox Live and the PSN  respectively while Batgirl will run you 400 MS points or $4.99 USD. Sorry Wii U players, nothing yet on either the skins or the DLC for you- stay tuned.

*Note* the PSN versions of these downloads won’t appear until tomorrow.
