Dark Horse Comics brings the rocking punk apocalypse to comics. Wait, what?
Of course that’s probably no surprise to anyone who knows that the force behind the book is none other than Gerard Way. Not only is Way the lead singer in the band My Chemical Romance, but he’s also the creator of the Eisner Award winning (and quite dark)miniseries, The Umbrella Academy.
TUA was a pretty big hit with not only critics, but readers as well with it’s twisted take on super-heroes and the end of the world. Killjoys has a similar apocalyptic theme (sort of), but takes place after the fall of civilization in a world where mega-corporations rule, punk rock is king and strange beings called ‘Dracs’ are on the hunt. Also very cool about Killjoys is that it’s a sequel to an album. Yep, you read that right, the comic is the sequel to Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys! – which is just awesome frankly.
