Neo Geo Mini available for pre-order as of this week, hitting in October

If you’re an old school arcade fan, then you’re going to want to have a look at what SNK has dreamt up. The Neo Geo Mini is landing in stores next month.

The classics

Honestly, the Neo Geo Mini hasn’t been advertised all that much. I haven’t seen it that many places, and the official “international” launch (UK and US) is next month. It seems like a pretty great little “classic console” too, loaded with games and sporting a cool form-factor.

Made to look like an actually mini arcade unit, the Neo Geo Mini has been available in Japan for a while at this point. The console comes packaged with 40 SNK titles, though they’ll change a little for the international launch.

Oh, and now might be a good time to get an extra control pad too, if you’re planning on playing on a TV. SNK is releasing what basically amounts to a copy of the Neo Geo CD’s controller. Those should be avail be as well, once the pre-orders go live.

Here’s what games will be included in with the console itself:

  • Metal Slug
  • Metal Slug 2
  • Metal Slug 3
  • Metal Slug X
  • Metal Slug 4
  • Metal Slug 5
  • King of the Monsters

Coming soon

The Neo Geo Mini will see pre-orders go live tomorrow, September 12th There’s no way of knowing just how difficult the little system will be though. It could be as hard to find as the Nintendo classics… or not. What it seems like though, is that it won’t be available to pre-order just anywhere.

So far, it looks like Amazon, GameStop, Game, and The Accessory Outlet might be the only shops offering it. If you really want on, you might want to start hitting those websites the second the clock turns midnight tonight.

The Neo Geo Mini lands at retail this October.
