MJ is the Marvel Universe in this latest slate of variant covers from the publisher

The latest variant covers from Marvel is something a little different. Spider-Man’s Mary Jane stars in these, all decked out as a bevy of Marvel heroes.

Is it cosplay?

If it is cosplay being depicted in these covers from Marvel starring Mary Jane Watson, then she really seems to get into it. Re-creating some off the most famous Marvel comic covers from past decades, some of these are pretty awesome too.

Of course, you should keep in mind that none of these covers are indicative of what’ll be in the actual stories within. These are straight variant covers, like we’re seeing with the Venom ones currently.

“Both the Gwen Stacy Variant Program and this month’s Venomized Variant Program were such runaway successes, we couldn’t help but try to top ourselves,” says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “And with Chip Zdarsky and Adam Kubert’s new Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man book on the horizon, the timing couldn’t have been better to put the spotlight on fan-favorite Mary Jane Watson.”

And as variants go, these are pretty wicked. Normally, I’m not into this kind of stuff, but I dig Marvel’s way of looking back and paying homage. Have a peek.

So when are these hitting? Look for them this June. As for the books that’ll have them, well if you couldn’t tell from the images, they are:
