This War of Mine gets editing suite- make your own aftermath

The excellent This War of Mine, which sets its sights on the survivors of a horrible war, now has a new update, as well as an editing suite where you can craft your own scenarios and characters.

This War of Mine was already a pretty incredible game. Focusing on the survivors of a battle who’s city is in shambles, and their struggle to simply survive what’s befallen them, the game was unique to say the least when it launched. Now though, it’s got a whole new lease on life with the beefy scenario editor that you just saw in the that new dev diary.

Not only can you make up your own ‘events’, but you also get two new levels and two new pieces of music to play with, and you can create new characters from scratch. Kind of interesting, is that the characters that were already in the game were all based on people close to the development team, so they had an attachment right off the bat. That’s something that players didn’t have, but that they can certainly experience now with the update.

As emotional as the game turned out to be, even without that connection for the gaming public, it’s got to be even more so for those who choose to import actual pictures and names of family and friends. So maybe get the tissues ready for this update… and that might be the only time I’ve ever written that.

The update, 1.3 in designation, is available right now and This War of Mine is likewise available for the PC.
