Some of the very biggest names in Marvel Comics history will be featured in Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration #1, the first in an anthology series from the publisher celebrating their amazing history.
First hitting sales racks with Marvel Comics #1 waaaaaaay back in October of 1939, Marvel has risen to become one of the preeminent publishers of superhero stories. They’ve showcased some of the most recognizable characters in the medium and have even become a movie studio.
Now in its 75th year of publication, Marvel is set to celebrate themselves with the anthology series Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration. The new series kicks things off with an amazing (or spectacular if you prefer) cover featuring Spider-Man and amps up from there with a special retelling of the classic text-only Captain America adventure Captain America Foils the Traitor’s Revenge, which was actually the first written work by Mr. Stan Lee.
There’ll also be a retelling of the Fantastic Four’s origin tale from James Robinson and Chris Samnee, a brand new story featuring soon-to-be Netflix series star Jessica Jones from Brian Michael Bendis & Michael Gaydos, a Peter Parker adventure from Tom DeFalco, Stan Scott Hanna,
That’s a packed tome, but Marvel is squeezing even more into it with “extras including articles, retrospectives, and a special tribute to Marvel creators who are no longer with us”. Yep, that’s a lot of content. Marvel is quick to point out that no fan should miss this one and I’m inclined to agree.
You’ll be able to grab a copy of this all-star book for yourself when it hits the racks in October.
