Risen 3 rises this August

Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes have officially dated the role-playing sequel to the Risen franchise for this August.

Following the lil’ tease that we got earlier last month, the trailer above does a much better job of showing off not only the bad guys that you’ll be campaigning against in the game, but also some of the abilities that the hero character will have, which will include not just sword and shield, but magic as well. Magic that looks suspiciously like the stuff that that dark mage is wielding too…

Also revealed today was the box art for the game and the official release date, which puts Risen 3 right in that sweet spot of the just-before-Holiday season that Madden resides in every year. It’s a month that, except for the football juggernaut, traditionally holds very little in the way of great titles too. That’s a fact that could be a boon for a game like Piranha Bytes’ latest adventure.

Look for Risen 3 to stab the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on August 12th.
