Get ready to blow stuff up like it’s 2004- the definitive version of iD Software’s Doom 3 has arrived.
Doom 3 was already pretty great as far as I’m concerned (though I know a lot of longtime fans thought it had its problems), but the new BFG Edition of the game improves on it in quite a few ways.
The title now features improved graphics, 5.1 sound, 3D support, a checkpoint save system, and a much needed armor-mounted flashlight. If you’re not familiar, there was no way to illuminate the shadows and shoot at the same time in the original D3- so that last addition is particularly welcome (even for me).
Improvements aside, the BFG Edition also includes the first two (classic) Doom games, the Resurrection of Evil single player expansion pack, and a brand new adventure titled The Lost Mission. Quite a bit of bang for your buck as the game retails for only $29.99 USD on PC and $39.99 on consoles.
Doom 3 BFG Edition is available now for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
