Seeking to appeal to fans from across a few genres, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree brings the dark world of Faelduum to life.
Dark fantasy
While we’ve been somehow unaware of Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree until today, the new title from Knights Peak and developer Primal Game Studio definitely has our attention as it hits consoles and the PC. The game is set in a new fantasy world where evil has already won, magic is forbidden, and the choices of the playable Inquisitor will give players the ability to “follow the law — or break it”.
Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree‘s choice system seems to be a big part of gameplay, with multiple branching narrative elements, all written by Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines’ Brian Mitsoda. Variation doesn’t stop there either, as six playable classes and “an in-depth skill tree with hundreds of upgrades” (according to Knights Peak), should add a good deal of replayability.
On top of all that too, the game looks pretty darn sharp, and includes a soundtrack by Christos Antoniou, that was recorded with the FILMharmonic Orchestra of Prague.
With its immersive setting, challenging gameplay, and evocative storytelling, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree opens the gates to a brand new dark fantasy universe.
Set in the dark and immersive world of Faelduum, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree blends Soulslike combat with non-linear exploration, offering challenging battles, deep character customization, and a narrative shaped by player choices. The game features six distinct character classes, each with unique talent trees and over 200 active skill upgrades. The story is crafted by Brian Mitsoda (Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines), with a haunting soundtrack composed by Christos Antoniou and performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra of Prague.
