Two new characters arrive for Double Dragon Gaiden next month

Maximum Entertainment and developer Secret Base’s Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is expanding in April.

Rising again

One of the recent assortment of beat ’em ups that’s hit in the last few years, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons brought the classic series back from the dead. Cast with a cartoony look with a tag-team mechanic, the game started Billy and Jimmy Lee, and other characters in a side-scrolling action-fest. But if you thought the bare-knuckle party was over, well you’d best think again.

Maximum Entertainment just revealed that the game would be expanding in April, with a free downloadable content drop that’ll add in some new playable characters. One of those isn’t exactly a friend to the Lee bros either…

JEFF
A childhood rival of the Lee brothers, Jeff trained alongside them in the martial art Sōsetsuken. But as his skills lagged behind, jealousy grew. Determined to surpass Billy and Jimmy, Jeff abandoned his noble path and embraced the streets, merging Karate with Sōsetsuken to develop a dangerous, unpredictable fighting style.

ABORE
A massive ex-soldier with a stoic demeanor, Abore fights with raw power and unwavering calm. His incredible strength and resilience have led some to wonder: is he a man, or something more? The quiet brawler offers no answers, only crushing blows.

Maximum Entertainment press release

There’s no release date yet for this upcoming content drop, though again you can expect it to hit for all versions of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons some time in April. While the DLC is free, the base game of course isn’t, though you can get a pretty nice deal on some versions of it right now.

To celebrate the DLC’s arrival, both the PC and Switch editions of Double Dragon Gaiden are marked down a whopping 60%.
