Ramping up to the game’s release next month, Bethesda has opened the seal on a deep dive into Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Fortune and glory
It’s no exaggeration to say that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Bethesda and MachineGames‘ latest effort takes the famed archeologist on an all-new adventure, set in between the iconic films.
We’ve seen bit of gameplay so far, enough to know that the title won’t be a straightforward action affair, or a clone of similarly-themed games like Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Showcasing that is a lengthy look at play that was unveiled today in the form of an over 14 minute deep dive.
In it, Bethesda gets into Indy’s various abilities, as well as the game’s main theme of adventure. Basically, don’t expect to be blasting hordes of foes in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Instead, it looks like Wolfenstein developer MachineGames is going the other direction, and aiming to get as authentic as possible. So look for lots of trekking through forbidding locales, as well as puzzle solving aplenty.
That said though, this is Indy at the end of the day, and there will be action too. The fedora’d hero will be whipped-cracking, fisticuff throwing, and even making use of his revolver where it’s necessary. All in all, it’s looking like it could be the best adaptation of the movie-universe yet, and a fitting new entry in the property’s history.
From MachineGames, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, set between the events of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark™ and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade™, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle immerses players in an all-new single-player, narrative driven adventure. Blending cinematic set-pieces, puzzle-solving, and hand-to-hand combat, players will embark on an authentic Indiana Jones™ experience around the world to try and defeat the sinister forces working against them.
Bethesda press release
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is up for pre-order now for the Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will first arrive for both platforms on December 9th, 2024. Since this is a Bethesda title, it’ll be a part of Microsoft’s Game Pass on day one, and will additionally be coming to the PS5 some time in 2025.
