Larry Hama is as much a part of G.I. Joe history as Stan Lee was Marvel’s. Along with a series of guest stars, he’s set to close out Snake Eyes: Deadgame.
Game over
Issue #5 is scheduled to be the last one for Snake Eyes: Deadgame, a miniseries from Rob Liefeld. A Joe mega-fan himself, Liefeld presented with Deadgame a title that took the property and re-focused it on one of its most popular characters with the ninja/commando Snake Eyes.
While the book was a popular one for publisher IDW during its run, it’s now coming to an end. And this is an ending unlike any other for a Joe title. Actually, it’s an issue (in general) unlike any other for a Joe book, and that’s due to the stunning list of talent on board.
Not that G.I. Joe has been a slouch over the years in terms of creative teams, but this is really unrivaled. Not only is Liefeld a star all by himself, but he’s also got onboard:
- Neal Adams
- Jerry Ordway
- Whilce Portacio
- Karl Kesel
- Art Thibert
- Philip Tan
- Dan Panosian
- Dan Fraga
- Ed Piskor
- Marat Mychaels
- Jim Rugg
- Tom Scioli
- Cory Hamscher
- Paul Scott
- Karl Alstaetter
- Chance Wolf
and, just added are:
- Kevin Eastman
- Ryan Ottley
- Eric Canete
- Karl Kerschl
- and… Larry Hama
That’s a remarkable list for any comic book, given the level of talent that’s brandished.
“I never dreamed the Snake Eyes: Deadgamefinale would go out in such style, jamming alongside some of the greatest, most celebrated artists and creators in the history of comic books,” says Liefeld. “It’s been a dream come true, collaborating with my favorite artists in the business, past and present! The fans are in for something really special!”

Coming up fast, Snake Eyes: Deadgame #5 is set to hit the racks on July 7th.
