Tech-On Avengers brings high-tech action to Marvel Comics this August

The Marvel U’s greatest heroes are crossing over with Bandai Spirits for an all-new, high-tech Avengers adventure. Get ready for Tech-On Avengers.

Suit up

As crossovers go, this is an interesting one. Marvel and Bandai Spirits are launching a multimedia event this August, one that will result in a new kind of Avengers story as well as a brand new S.H. Figuarts series.

As for the comic though, it’s looking pretty sharp. Writer Jim Zub is on board, which will also star some stellar looking art from Jeff “Chamba” Cruz. Expect over-the-top action, and lots and lots of heavy metal.

Here’s a taste:

When the Red Skull wields a strange new power that strips heroes of their powers and threatens the entire world, the Avengers turn to Tony Stark’s experimental new technology to save us all. Here come the Iron Avengers — TECH ON AVENGERS! Sleek high-tech power suits bristling with energy and amped-up attack power face off against super villains enhanced to match. It’s mechs and mayhem in the Marvel Mighty Manner!

Marvel Comics

It’s a little unclear if this is a canon story, though it sounds like Tech-On Avengers is more or less its own thing. It’s also a little unclear just what the run is expected to be. It starts with #1 issue, but whether it’s expected to be a mini or maxi-series isn’t stated anywhere.

Aside from all of that though, it’s looking great and I can’t wait to see what the figures are going to look like. On that end, Bandai Spirits will be producing a fresh lineup of S.H. Figuarts for the series. If you don’t know what that is, Figuarts is a highly detailed and super-articulated line of collector-grade figures. Yes, it runs on the expensive side, but more often than not, Figuarts hits its mark.

D designs for those should be out this June. We don’t know though, if they’ll actually be hitting alongside the comic on August 11th. Stay tuned.
