It’s been a while, but Sonic the Hedgehog is back behind the wheel. Sega has announced Team Sonic Racing is coming, speeding onto consoles this winter.
Sumo Digital will be handling the developmental duties on this one, and they’re a name that Sonic fans should know. The team worked on the blue blur’s previous on-track adventure Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing.
So what do they have on tap? Well, Sega is saying that the game will offer “the best elements of arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing”. Though I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure what that means.
What you can be sure of though, is that customization will play a big part in this new racer. That, and online options as well. Sega says that gamers will be able to play solo, but also dig into online battles. And yes, those will be available in both co-op and competitive flavors.
Of course, you can expect both digital and physical editions of Team Sonic Racing, when it hits the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch this winter. We’ll let you know as soon as a more definite release date is announced. But for now, watch for E3 to bring a few more details on this one, when the big show arrives early next month.
