A while ago we found out that Far Cry 5 will be doing co-op correctly. That’s right, every little part of the campaign will be playable with a friend. Or friend for hire as Far Cry puts it.
No more separate campaign mode or simply roaming around taking out outposts. Every. Last. Part. Ubisoft released a trailer showing the kind of chaos you’ll be causing for The Project at Eden’s Gate.
Far Cry 5 Co-op Trailer
[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElNTWRixEyo[/embedyt]Now, I must admit this does look like a lot of fun.The kind of co-op I’ve wanted since Far Cry 2.
Co-op will be available as soon as you’ve finished the tutorial. Once that’s over you’re free to drag in a buddy and wreak havoc together. Whether that will be in the same vehicle or separate ones with one on the ground and the other taking to the sky is entirely up to you. You could rush in and have a friend sit back with a rifle and cover you.
This really opens up multiple ways to engage the enemy. And it does sound like a lot of fun.
While playing co-op you will still be able to use your guns and fangs for hire. HOWEVER, you can only hire two at the same time, including your friend. So while in co-op you will have to choose between another human pal or a furrier companion.
One thing people have been a little worried about is the progression for the 2nd player. While your co-op pal will keep all of their character progression, such as XP, guns and money. The story progression will not be saved for them, only the host of the session.
Far Cry 5 is due out 27 February. I personally am really rather looking forward to it.
